She Maroons head Coach Cida Alex Olowo says that they approached each game they played in the FUFA Women Elite League like a final.
Olowo made the remarks after his side clinched this year’s Elite League trophy on Thursday following a 1-0 victory over Rines FC at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
Star-player Millicent Namwembe scored the winning goal with 15 minutes to play.
Speaking after the game, Olowo could not hide his excitement about the triumph.
“I am very happy to see my side achieve this. Olowo said.
“We came here determined and our target was to qualify for the super League.”
She Maroons were exceptional throughout the campaign as they finished it unbeaten.
Olowo says they started preparations earlier last year and they approached each game like it was a final.
“Every game for us was a final. We prepared earlier starting from November last year when they handed the team to me.
“We set the target and achieved it. The trophy is just a bonus. We took it and am just very happy.”
The Prison Warders also saw two of their players walk away with individual awards. Namwembe who scored six goals finished as the top scorer while Joan Naggayi was name the Most Valuable Player.
She Maroons and Rines WFC are the two teams promoted to next season’s FUFA Women Super League.
