Preview – Purple Sharks ploting To Pull Off Great Escape

Wakiso Giants FC will be out to try and overturn a 3-1 first leg deficit when they travel away to Police FC on Friday.

The Purple Sharks who eliminated both Tooro United FC and Water FC in the round of 16 and 32 respectively, dug them selves a deep hole when they let a lead slip to lose 3-1 at home last week.

Before the game last week, they were in good form and that is what they will hope to ride on and try to pull off a miracle of sorts.

Douglas Bamweyana’s side had eight successive matches without tasting defeat (W5 D3).

In that period, they had also been impressive in the final third, scoring 27 goals which is an average of close to five per game.

The only worry is that they continue to conceded goals, letting in 13 in their past six competitive games.

The attacking trio of Viane Ssekajugo, Frank Ssebuufu and Ivan Bogere will be the one to inspire Wakiso in case they can overturn the deficit.

For the Cops, they have impressed so far in the cup and must feel one foot is already in the semis.

They annihilated Calvary FC 10-1 in the round of 32 before a first leg 4-1 victory lifted them past Bright Stars despite losing 1-0 in the second leg.

The 3-1 win in Wakiso in the first leg was one of their finest displays this campaign.

However, their will be serious concerns in the Police camp as they come into the contest with just that single victory in their last seven competitive fixtures (D2 L4).

Before the three last week, the Cops were struggling find to the back of the net as they had netted a disappointing two goals and fired blanks in four of the six past games.

The duo of Ben Ocen and Brian Mululi had struggling in front of goal but with Derrick Kakooza now starting to score, they will hope he does more of what he did in Wakiso.
Match Stats

This will be the sixth meeting between the two sides.

The first five have resulted into three Police victories, one for Wakiso and the other ending in a draw.

The two sides have already met three times this season with each winning once and the other ending in a draw.

The two victories have both been 3-1 victories while the draw was 0-0.
