KCCA FC 1-1 Express FC (AGG: 1-1)
Omondi Stadium, Lugogo
Friday, May 04
KCCA FC captain Charles Lukwago produced a moment of madness as his side drew 1-1 with Express FC to exit the Uganda Cup on Friday.
With nine minutes to play and KCCA leading 1-0, Lukwago collected a routine ball in the area and then elbowed Charles Musiige prompting referee Ali Kaddu to point to the spot.
Martin Kizza took responsibility and netted from the resultant kick to ensure Express moves into the last four on away goals, having drawn 0-0 in the first leg at Wankulukuku.
Earlier, Sadat Anaku had put the Kasasiro Boys ahead on 41 minutes, curling into the far corner off Ashraf Mugume’s assist.
It was a cagey affair which saw both sides create little in front of goal with KCCA sniffing the goal more in the opening 45 minutes.
Gift Ali shot over from outside the box before Anaku saw an effort head wide after he was played-in by Hassan Musana.
Express who barely threatened in the opening half had some good chances in the second.
Godfrey Lwesibawa saw a shot flush wide, Enock Walusimbi headed over from a Kizza corner while Musiige could not sort his feet while inside the six-yard box.
Towards the end of the game, players from both side got involved in a bowl after a ball-boy shoved Express custodian Denis Otim as he tried to collect a ball for a goal-kick.
In the end, Express held on to register a vital draw that sees them join BUL FC, Vipers SC and Police in the semi finals of this year’s Uganda Cup.
