FUFA Big League
Sunday, June 06
-Calvary FC 0-2 Arua Hill
-Gaddafi FC 6-2 Paidha Black Angels
Goals from Gaddafi Gadinho and Rashid Agau in opening 15 minutes of the game gave Arua Hill bragging rights over Calvary FC in the West Nile derby on Sunday.
The 2-0 win also boosted Arua Hill’s chances of promotion to the Uganda Premier League at the end of the current FUFA Big League season.
The Visitors started off brightly with goalkeeper Angufindru Norman forced into an early save from Gaddafi Gadinho’s free kick.
Gadinho would not be denied for a second time as he broke the deadlock, leaving the keeper rooted to his spot with a fine finish.
Four minutes later winger Agau doubled the visitors lead, slotting past Angufindru off a fine solo run.
Calvary’s star-striker Julius Malingumu tried to bring his side back into the contest but could not find his way past a resolute Arua defence.
The hosts upped their game in the second half, asked the Arua defence several question but could not find the back of the net.
Arua held on to register a vital victory in their quest for promotion.
The result sees them stay top of the Rwenzori group with 23 points from 12 games.
For Calvary, they are now 6th with 13 points and need to respond in their last two games so as to fend off relegation back to the regional league.
Calvary next game is against Paidha Black Angels in another West Nile derby at the Bar Okoro stadium on Thursday while Arua Hill battle it out with Gaddafi FC at the Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe on the same day.
