Prisons, Police Absent As Inaugural Handball Champions League Kicks-off

The Inaugural Handball Champions League kicked off on Saturday at the Bombo Barracks Military Grounds.

The league was meant to be played by the top four teams from the 2019 National League but Prisons Spears Handball Club and Police Handball Club didn’t turn up for both the Men and Women’s editions for reasons best known to them.

That didn’t stop the league from going on as the Men were represented by UPDF and Ndejje University Hoppers while UPDF, Ndejje University Lady Hoppers and Kawanda SSS battled it out in the Ladies category.

The league that was meant to kick-off at 10am was delayed up to 11:35am as some players were finalising their transfers.

Former Ndejje University Hoppers player, Mukwaya Onesmus, he was not allowed to play for his new side UPDF because it was claimed that he wasn’t released by the former.

The Return leg takes place on Sunday at Ndejje University Ground.
