It was all celebrations for Arua Hill SC at fulltime whistle after the side managed to pick a vital point at promotional rivals Gaddafi FC in their penultimate game.
Arua Hill remain three points on top of the league, with a superior 14 goal difference, going into their last game at home to already relegated Paidha Black Angels this Sunday.
It was a resilient performance for Hussein Mbalangu’s side who were reduced to ten men in added time when substitute Alfred Leku elbowed Gaddafi’s defender Najib Feishal.
They endured the tense closing minutes and almost one at the death but Najib’s bicycle kick just kissed the post after a poor clearance by the defence.
Arua have everything in their court going into Sunday’s game, and it will take a miracle for them to miss out on automatic promotion.
Gaddafi have to beat Calvary by a big margin and pray that Arua Hill lose at home as well for them to have take the top spot.
Arua sat at the back and were starved of possession as hosts Gaddafi went in an early search for a goal.
Mulimi Frank headed straight to goalkeeper Richard Anyama, Otim James shot wide while in the area before he also missed one-on-one with Anyama after being sent through on goal by Madondo Joel.
Goalless it ended at the break but Arua improved from their after. Skipper Ceaser Okhuti had an effort cleared off the line by Lawrence Kasadha.
At the other end, Anyama was again called into action with 12 minutes to play, to send away Otim’s effort from a free kick.
The result sees Arua Hill move to 27 points and remain at the summit of the Elgon group.
