Uganda Swimming Federation selects Olympic Representatives

Uganda Swimming Federation has selected Kirabo Namutebi and Atuhaire Ambala to represent Uganda in 2020 Tokyo Olympic games in Japan.

The duo turn out for Dolphins Swimming Club with Kirabo Namutebi currently in Kazan, Russia.

“It is true the Uganda Swimming Federation has selected Atuhaire AMBALA and Kirabo NAMUTEBI to represent us in Tokyo Japan” USF president Moses Mwase confirmed to this website.

“We believe we have selected the best apparently in the country and we expect them to post a great display” Mwase added.

“The team will travel with Muzafaru MUWANGUZI as the headcoach. We’re also supporting Husnah who is preparing for Paralympics that will be coming up soon”.

Atuhaire Ambala posted 24.69 for 50m free style at the World Championships in Gwangju – South Korea in 2019.

For Kirabo Namutebi Kirabo makes 26.98 for 50m free with her last outing being in 2019 at the 13th CANA Junior swimming championship in Tunusia where she won double gold.

In the ladies category Jamila Lunkuse two time Olympian both in Rio de Jenerio where she made 1:19:64 in women’s 100 breaststroke and 28:44 in 50 metres freestyle in the 2012 London Olympics makes her Uganda’s best female swimmer in Olympic games.

Other swimmers that have been at the olympics before include Joe Atuhaire and Supra Singhal that went to 2000 Olympic games in Sydney Australia, Edgar Luberenga in the 2004 Olympic games in Athens Greece, Gilbert Kaburu in the 2008 Olympic games held in Beijing China as well as Ganzi Mugura in the 2012 London Olympic games.
