As a New look Uganda Cranes team suffered a 3-2 loss to South Africa on Thursday in an international game, Express FC skipper Enock Walusimbi played a peripheral role as Coach Abudullah Mubiru chose to play Harlid Lwalira and Murshid Jjuuko in central defence.
Uganda Cranes had a first half lead surrendered to their hosts Bafana Bafana, eventually losing 3-2 on the day.
Ibrahim Oriti and Abdul Lumala were on the score sheet as Cranes started their rebuilding process.
Having been part of the National team for the first time, Walusimbi says it’s a great milestone for any player to represent his nation.
“Representing your country for any player is a huge milestone, I am grateful that I was part of the Squad in South Africa.
“I have learnt a lot especially from senior players like Murshid Juuko and the Captiain Emmanuel Okwi, we played as a team although unfortunately we didn’t get the result we wanted but we picked some positives and we shall bounce back better.
Making a national team debut is every player’s dream, and for Walusimbi he still has to wait a little bit to make his.
On missing out on a possible debut, the Express FC skippers says it’s just a matter of time to get there.
“Personally I think it’s only a matter of time before I make my national Team debut.
Express are currently chasing on a double this season as they sit top of the league on 58 points and are in the semi finals of the Uganda Cup.
Having had a good season, Walusimbi will be vital for his side as they seek to chase sliver ware this season.
