Tooro United Football Club have been boosted by online betting company 1X Bet.
This, comes as the club prepares for Sunday’s decisive and final Big League game against Kigezi Homeboys in a game where they need a win to earn UPL direct promotion ticket.
The 1X Bet company has revealed a kit sponsorship package worth Sh113,860,000 for the 2021/22 season.
This means that 1X Bet will appear on all Tooro United club merchandise including the kits.
The new club kits were unveiled in a colourful ceremony at Kati Kati on Friday morning.
“We are delighted to have you here as we fulfill some of our objective,” said 1X Bet Operations Manager Tony Dhabangi. “We want to move with Tooro United all the way and we hope they achieve the Uganda Premier League promotion.”
Club President Alice Namatovu commended 1X Bet for the timely support and called on more sponsors to come on board.
Namatovu added: “We have a big fan base and we promise to match that with success. We will not let you down and we want to be one of the country’s best.”
Tooro United was founded in 2007 as Soana FC by then owner Smart Obedi who bought off Misindye FC. Promoted to Uganda Premier League in 2013, the club later changed name in 2018 to Tooro United and shifted to Fort Portal City.
Car dealer Obedi sold the club to Sperito Ssesanga who reportedly handed over to Alice Namatovu.
Hosting at Buhinga stadium, the club garnered a huge fan base from the region that was already football thirsty.
National Council of Sports Assistant General Secretary David Katende urged the leaders of Fort Portal to use the club as a promotional tool for the Tourism City.
Fortal Portal Mayor Edson Ruyonga Asaba and area MP Hon Alex Ruhinda attended the ceremony. They pledged to give the club all the support needed.
