Cranes Technical Team Needs Reshuffling As Well – Hassan Wasswa


Former Uganda Cranes player Hassan Wasswa Mawanda reckons that Cranes Technical team requires an overhaul if the rebuilding process of the national team is to take positive strides.

Wasswa, who retired from national team duties following 13 years of devoted service in April, was commenting in the aftermath of a new look Cranes’s 3-2 away loss to South Africa on Thursday in an international friendly game.

Following the retiring of a host of big name players from Uganda national team, a new dawn was heralded on the national team, and rightly so new faces dominated Cranes squad for the South African duel.

The former KCCA FC, Vipers SC and SC Villa player commended the efforts of the team.

“Great work guys, good spirit . Don’t put your heads down cause(sic) it’s just the beginning of good things. The future is bright.” Wasswa posted on his Twitter handle.

He, however advised FUFA Boss Moses Magogo that the overhaul should trickle down to the technical bench.

He wrote: “I am just thinking as FUFA president Moses Magogo is reshuffling the team, why doesn’t he reshuffle the technical team as well.” Because I think we do have young coaches that can deliver. Because a young mind needs new fresh ideas from young coaches.”

The Uganda Cranes is currently under the guise of Abudallah Mubiru as care taker coach following the sacking of Jonathan Mcknistry.
