Uganda Cranes and URA FC Striker Steven Desse Mukwala is over the moon for making his senior National team debut.
Mukwala replaced Captain Emmanuel Okwi in the Second half to mark his senior debut as the Cranes suffered a 3-2 loss to Bafana Bafana in an international Friendly on Thursday June 10th.
Initially, the former Vipers SC hotshot was not part of the 34-man squad summoned earlier, something that left many with a lot of questions about his exclusion following a rich vein of form.
Later on after a low turn up that saw 14 players attend the first session, the URA marksman later joined the team and finally made it to the final 23-man squad to South Africa.
To a player that has been impressive at club level, surely his National team call up was inevitable.
Having made his senior national team debut on Thursday, Mukwala says it was a great moment.
“It was a honorable moment for me, wearing National team colors to mark my first Senior debut,” he wrote on his social media handle.
Despite losing on the day, the URA forward says he is still grateful for the opportunity.
“Not the result we wanted but it was a dream made reality. Am grateful for the opportunity, #m9.”
His side URA FC are currently second in the Uganda Premier league on 57 points, one below leaders Express FC and are still in the title race with four games left.
With 14 goals already on his name, Mukwala will be vital for his side as they seek to take a league title this season.
