Uganda Swimming Federation, through their president Moses Mwase, have confirmed dates for the National Swimming Championships.
“We hereby invite your club to take part of the 6th USF National Age Group Swimming Championships due from 3-5th September at a yet to be designated venue,” says the official statement from USF.
“In keeping with the Government of Uganda/NCS and FINA/USF covid guildlines, all teams must adhere to the Covid protocol and each team should submit evidence of negative Covid PCR tests carried out on or either 1st september 2021”.
Just like other sports displines resumed without fans, it will be a similar case with the Swimming championship.
“Spectators will not be allowed at the event,” USF statement adds.
The 2021 edition of the National Age Group Swimming championship will also be used to celebrate the 2021 World Aquatic day in order to encourage the power of aquatic sports for social wellbeing and development at a national and international level.
It should be noted that this Championship means a lot to the Athletes that have had a full year without action yet it will be used in the selection of Athletes that will represent Uganda in the CANA Junior(s) and Senior(s) Swimming Championships slated for October in Accra Ghana, the CANA zone III Championship in November which will be hosted by Uganda and the FINA world short course championship in Abu Dhabi.
Of the last five National Swimming Championships, four of them have been won by Greenhill Academy.
