The Federation of Uganda Football Association have postponed all Uganda Premier League fixtures scheduled for Saturday 19th June and 20th June after the new directives were issued.
The governing body have not confirmed whether the league is cancelled but will give further guidance on the remaining match days in the near future.
In his first Nation address on 6th June Monday, President Museveni allowed Sports activities to continue but without fans but he revoked his decision and banned all Sports activities for 42 days.
FUFA statement reads.
“Following H.E President of the Republic of Uganda address to the Nation on Friday 18th June 2021 on the COVID-19 pandemic, new Directives were issued”.
“FUFA wishes to announce that all Startimes UPL matches scheduled for Saturday 19th June 2021 and Sunday 20th June 2021 have been postponed”.
“FUFA will give further guidance on the remaining match days in the near future.”
The decision comes with three games to end of the matchday 27. Vipers were to face Onduparaka at Kitende while Busoga United were to host URA on Saturday. Express and Wakiso Giants were to face off on Sunday.
It is expected that FUFA will decide to end the season and award the league title to leaders Express FC.
