Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has contributed £500,000, around Sh2.4bn, to help in constructing a mega hospital in his home town of Bambali.

This is the latest project for Mane who also donated money towards school construction, supermarkets among other projects.

Mane grew up in a small village of Bambali which is 400km from the town of Dakar. It is said that he grew up with his uncle as his parents had lots of children and hence could not meet up the basic needs.

Media in Senegal says that this will be the first time that Bambali will have a medical facility of such kind.

On his Twitter, Mane said that “am very honoured to meet the President of State His Excellence Macky Sall, a good moment of exchanges on football but also on our social projects.”

The first class hospital will have an A&E department, maternity care, dental facilities and consulting rooms among others, and will serve over 30 nearby villages.

Mane, is the 2019 CAF African Footballer of the Year.
