FUFA Flies Out Uganda Kobs To Saudi Arabia For Cecafa Preps

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has taken Uganda Kobs to Saudi Arabia to intensify preps for the forthcoming Cecafa U23 tournament.

The Kobs have flown out late Tuesday night for a training camp.

FUFA has said that the trip is funded by the Saudi Arabian Football Association.

While in Saudi Arabia, FUFA has confirmed that the Uganda Kobs will play Saudi Arabia twice in friendlies in July 2 and 5th, 2021.

These friendlies will also fine tune the team ahead of the upcoming World Cup qualifiers in September as the Federation start rebuilding process for the senior team.

Uganda has faced Saudi Arabia twice in recent memory, both games were friendlies.

The two sides played out a goalless draw in November 2010. Saudi Arabia won the tie in February 2001 3-1, with Edward Kalungi scoring for Uganda at Dammam.

The start of this year’s Cecafa U23 Championship, which was supposed to start on July 3, has been pushed to July 17, 2021 in Bahir Dar Ethiopia.

Uganda are the defending champions after they beat Eritrea 3-0 in Kampala in 2019 to clinch a record extending 15th CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup title.
