Express FC Head Coach Wasswa Bbosa is delighted with his side’s title success for the 2020-2021 UPL season.
This comes after FUFA declared the Red Eagles as champions of the 2020/21 Star Times Uganda Premier League on June 29th after invoking the 75% clause of the competition.
Before the season was halted following Government’s ban on Sports due to a surge in Covid19 cases, the Bbosa coached side were top of the league with 58 points after 26 games played.
And it was a case of Dejavu as it was last season when Vipers SC were awarded the title through similar circumstances.
Bbosa, who was assistant to Sam Ssimbwa when the Red Eagles last hoist the league title in 2011, is gushing over his side’s heroics.
“I am beyond overjoyed with this achievement, I think we totally deserved it. The boys put in 200% from day one so I’m happy we won the title, Bbosa told the Club’s media.
Bbosa joined the Red Eagles in February 2020 replacing George Ssemwogerere as the head coach.
Winning the title makes him one of the former players to win the league with the club as a manager. He guided his side to 17 wins, Drawn 7 and lost only two games in the season.
He added “As a former player at the club this means a lot, however I want to appreciate the management, technical team and players, they surely deserve it and I can’t wait to celebrate with them
Express FC now take their seventh league title, their first since 2011.
The title also sees Express book a ticket to CAF Champions League and will represent the country.
