The Federation of Uganda Football Association has confirmed a 12-teams Big League for the 2021/2022 season.
Previously, the Fufa Big League was competed for by 16 clubs.
However, on Wednesday June 30th, FUFA confirmed that 12 teams will participate next season.
The statement from FUFA said that the format of play will be communicated.
It is expected that FUFA will do away with the two groups format of Elgon and Rwenzori.
The Federation has also confirmed the relegation of four teams and they will not be replaced after the Regional leagues were called off due to the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19.
The teams that were relegated from the FUFA Big League this season to Regional Leagues are Mbale Heroes, Paidha Black Angels, Kigezi HomeBoyz, Terrazo & Tiles FC.
From the Elgon Group, Mbale Heroes and Paidha Black Angels finished rock bottom on 17 and 5 points respectively.
While from the Rwenzori group, Kigezi home Boyz and Terrazzo & Tiles finished rock bottom on 14 and 10 points respectively.
Tooro United and Arua Hill SC earned automatic qualification to the top flight after finishing top of their respective groups.
Four teams including Proline FC, Nyamityobora, Gadaffi FC and Blacks Power FC will be battling for the remaining slot to join the Uganda Premier League in the play offs.
Kyetume FC, MYDA FC and Kitara FC were the three teams relegated from the Uganda Premier League and will be among the 12 teams that will compete in the 2021/2022 FUFA Big league.
