Express FC head Coach Wasswa Bbosa has admited that defender Murushid Jjuuko is his pick for Express FC’S best player of the season.
Bbosa, who guided the Red Eagles to their seventh title in the club history made the remarks at the Endiba Yaffe T.V show on Friday.
Jjuuko joined Wakulukuku based side as a free agent at the start of the season, and without a doubt, he’s been a rock at the heart of Express FC’s defence.
The Uganda Cranes defender has forged a solid defensive unit with captain Enock Walusimbi.
Coach Wasswa has been left impressed by Jjuuko’s performances.
“Murshid Juuko has been outstanding in the team, and for me he is my best player at the club,” Bbosa stated.
The Uganda Cranes defender, following his stint at Simba SC in Tanzania, was almost out of active football for two seasons before joining the Wankuluku based side this season.
“When he was joining the club, I sat with him, told him that our target is to bring back the lost glory at the club and also uplift himself as a player.”
In a season that has seen offensive players like Kambale Eric and Godfrey Lwesibawa score many goals in a season, many could see them as outstanding players at the club as well.
However, in his view, Bbosa says Juuko has been a leader as his side conceded the least goals (13) in the whole season.
“He has been a leader on the pitch, you can see Express has conceded the least goals in the season.
“Most people put emphasis on the strikers who score goals , but for me Murshid has been exceptional in the team.”
Having clinched the title, Express booked their ticket in the CAF champions league, and Juuko’s experience will be vital for continental football.
