The 2020/21 Uganda Premier League champions Express FC will receive their title on Thursday, FUFA has confirmed.

Express were declared league champions on June 29 when FUFA applied Force Majeure due Covid induced lockdown.

The Federation has stated that they, together with UPL, have finalised plans to scientifically crown Express champions.

Eric Kambale was integral in Express Fc’s title winning campaign.

The event will be held this Thursday, July 8 at 10am at StarTimes Uganda offices in Nakasero.

This will happen without club captain Enock Walusimbi who is with Uganda Kobs in Saudi Arabia preparing for Cecafa U23.

Express players, Club Executive, Board members and about some selected fans are expected to attend the function.

Fufa, UPL, Startimes and some members of the media will be in attendance.

However, Vipers are yet to receive their league title they won under similar circumstances in the 2019/20 season.

Express FC – Deserved Champions

Express FC were top of the table with 58 points, one and two points above URA and Vipers who are second and third respectively.

The Red Eagles were excellent throughout despite starting the campaign as outsiders, with KCCA and Vipers as favourites.

They beat rivals URA FC home and away and picked four points against Vipers including a rare win at Kitende.

Coach Wasswa Bbosa turned everything into gold right from the transfer season to his tactical approach to the games.

Express players in celebration

The defence, manned by Enock Walusimbi and Murushid Juuko has been solid but much credit will go to striker Eric Kambale who has been flawless for a side that lost George Ssenkaaba midway through the season.

This, is Express FC’s seventh league title, their first since 2011.

Founded in 1957, the title sees Express book a ticket to CAF Champions League.
