Kambale Contract Discrepancy: Is Express Skating On Thin Ice Again?

Kambale’s agent Robert Ssebitosi, when contacted, told The-SportsNation that his client is a free agent!

Express FC are set to lose their star player for another season running over contract issues.

Eric Kambale’s contract at the Wankulukuku-based side has expired, The-SportsNation has learnt.

The striker was a vital cog in their title winning season when he starred with 15 goals to hand the club their first UPL title since 2012.

However, the club has found themselves in a catch-22 situation as it has been the case in recent memory.

Kambale’s contract is said to have run out last month and some UPL giants have been alerted.

The Club CEO Isaac Mwesigwa has refuted claims, saying that “Kambale is still contracted with us.”

Kambale’s agent Robert Ssebitosi, when contacted, told The-SportsNation that his client is a free agent!

All this is reminiscent of Dissan Galiwango’s situation that saw the winger join Vipers last season among other examples.

Rumour has it that there is a three-year agreement between Kambale and Express but the deal did not involve his agent.

Ssebitosi is said to have reported the case to FUFA, claiming that the club violated protocols to engage his client (Kambale) without his knowledge.

Sources have also claimed that Express FC has reached out to Ssebitosi and his client (Kambale) for fresh negotiations.

Ssebitosi adds: “We are going to have talks with the club, just waiting for some money from Mr Kiryowa Kiwanuka and I guess everything will be sorted.”

Despite their long awaited return to CAF Champions League, top Express FC officials have off the record stated that the club is not willing to stretch their budget to lure players to stay or join the club.

URA FC is leading suitors for Kambale’s signature and the Tax Collectors are expected to table a fat offer as the club strengthens their squad for CAF Confederation Cup.
