New UPDF FC Coach Ssenyondo Swayed By Club’s Culture

Coach Brian Ssenyondo reckons that the culture of army side UPDF FC sawyed him to take over the reigns of the club in the capacity of head coach.

The youthful gaffer, who doubles as Uganda U-17 National team (Cubs) assistant coach, was officially unveiled at the Bombo based club on Monday in attendance of Club financial manager Captain Phiona Kanohire as well as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Ashraf Miiro.

He replaces Kefa Kisala, whose employment contract was terminated on mutual consent last week.

Upon his unveiling, the youthful tactician spoke with much delight with much emphasis on the club’s culture.

“I’m happy to be here, and being part of UPDF family and work with them. I thank the board, management and the CEO, that of all people they chose me as the right candidate”.

“The most important thing is that I have come here to work because I am a hard-working person, I think I have come here because of the culture of the club, and I think it suits me as a coach.”

He finds the Bombo based club that finished 8th last season with 37 ponits upon their return to the coveted Uganda Premier League.

Ssenyondo reserve d some praise for out -going Kisala.

“I thank the former coach Kefa kisala for his great contribution, he has kept he club in the top flight, for a club that was just being promoted to the top league, he did a good job.”

He adds that fans should expect the best from him as well.

“I promise everyone out there the fans, that we are going to uplift the team from where It has been. Im a person who is believes in winning because I’m a winner too and I promise the fans happiness, not at all occasions but expect great moments.

Ssenyondo, known for nurturing young talents, notably from his days at Masaka fabled academy Synergy, adds on that he will do the same at his new side.

“We shall nurture and promote young talents from our academy young Simba, so that we can achieve the vision of the club.

“The good thing I will be working with a ceo who has been in football and it is good to work with football people.”

Club CEO Ashraf Miiro said they it’s was no easy task getting a new head coach but finally settled for Ssenyondo.

“We found a huddle to find another coach since many had applied, because we have so many friends in the football fraternity who we always talk to.

But it’s all about the goals of the club,a club like UPDF, we look at building young talents and promote them to the senior team, like how we did last Season we got defender Vuni Bright from the Young Simba, and promoted him to the senior team.”

He added

“When we looked at Brian Ssenyondo, he is already at Cubs U17 National team so we knew he is good at nurturing young players.

So we looked at coach who can be able to work under our minimised budget. When we sat as a panel, Ssenyondo was the perfect person fit for the job.”

The youthful tactician is former Mbarara City and Synergy football club coach.

This will be Ssenyondo’s second club in Uganda’s top flight league after his two stints with Mbarara City in the past seasons.
