Express FC Custodian Mathias Muwanga has dedicated his golden glove accolade to the late team manager Abdul Kinobe.
Muwanga emerged the 2020/21 goalkeeper of the season at an event that marked the crowning of Express FC as league Champions at Soliz house, Startimes Uganda offices on Tuesday.
However, the Red Eagles run-up to their seventh league title was dulled by the unfortunate demise of former club Manager Abdul Kinobe.
And the former URA FC keeper dedicated the golden glove plaque to the Fallen old man.
“I thank Startimes Uganda Premier league as well as Express FC as a team, my teammates and all our fans country wide.
“I feel so good winning this golden glove. It is good in my career as it adds much to me and I am so happy.”
Muwanga had an impressive season, keeping 13 clean sheets in the season, helping his side win their seventh title in club history and it was no surprise he won the golden glove.
“I dedicate this award to the late Hajji Abdul Kinobe who was commonly known as Life Manager. He was there for us throughout the season, everytime he could encourage me, it’s sad that he has not made it up to this day to see me win this accolade but I dedicate this accolade to him wherever he is.”
Sheds light on contract situation.
DR Congo Giants As Vita and un named club in Angola are reportedly monitoring Muwanga’s uncertain suitation.
He says they are in discussions to see him stay at the club.
“Yes my contract expired but we are in discussions with my club and I know within no time you will know about my future.”
By virtue of winning the trophy, Express booked a ticket to the CAF champions league next season and will represent the country.
Muwanga’s stay at the club will be a big boost as the club gears for continental football next season.
