Yunus Sentamu Promises to Stay Put

If there is that one star player who stood out for Vipers SC last season, then forward Yunus Sentamu ticks all the boxes. Bobosi Byaruhanga fans look away.

With the player slowly fading and moving towards the realms of wasted talent, the former AS Vita forward rose from his slumber at his second spell at Vipers SC.

He scored 16 goals out of the 22 games played and was named the Uganda Premier League Top scorer of the 2020/2021 season.

With the games coming thick and fast last season, Sentamu showed that finding the back of the net remained his forte.

“I thank Allah, my family, Vipers family and the technical team for the support. Personally, I remained focused in training sessions because I had it in mind that I would return to competitive football,” Sentamu told Vipers media.

After his a short spell in 2019, featuring for Tirana in Albania, the striker kept out of active football for unknown reasons before later rejoining the Venoms.

Earlier this year in January, the chance came Knocking to re-join the club that bred and unearthed his potential.

Despite missing a few games , it didn’t take Sentamu ages to get off the mark, as he scored a brace in the Vipers 7-0 victory over MYDA FC. That ignitated a brilliant season.

He went on to praise the Vipers Management for granting him a chance to return the league since 2014.

“I thank the management of Vipers Sports Club for the opportunity to play again at this great club. Even when my family members pushed me to sign here and there, I remained put and Vipers offered the chance that I embraced with open hands”

For any player emerging as the top scorer, one should be aiming a bigger challenge elsewhere but not Setamu.
The forward promises to stay put.

“My performance from the previous season will definitely push me to the future times ahead. I want to inspire Vipers to the league crown next season.”

Vipers finished the 2020-21 season in third place with 56 points after 26 games played, before the league was halted due to the outbreak of the second wave of COVID-19.

Following his superb performances in the previous Season, Sentamu’s stay will be a plus for the Venoms as they seek to fight for the league title next season.

He has recently played for AS Vita (Congo), CS Sfaxien (Tunisia) and Ilves (Finland).
