Jayden Onen Stretchered Off After Nasty Head Injury During Trials At Doncaster

Uganda Cranes attacking midfielder Jayden Onen saw his trial stint at Doncaster Rovers end in agony on Wednesday night.

He suffered a nasty head injury barely a minute into the game before he was taken off unconsciously.

Onen who was released by Reading last year, was one of three trialists including Louis Reed and Dan Gardner as English League one side suffered a 4-0 defeat against Sheffield United in their preseason game.

“The game had barely got started before a coming together between Ollie Norwood and a Doncaster Rovers trialist (Jayden Onen) left the latter with a head injury meaning he was unable to continue,” reads part of the report on the club website.

“After several minutes of on-field treatment, he was taken from the field on a stretcher and was replaced by a second trialist.”

Goals from Oliver Burke, Lys Mousset (2) and Luke Freeman saw Doncaster Rovers suffer a 4-0 defeat.

Onen, born on 17th February 2001, played in the Arsenal Academy and featured for Brighton and Hove U21 team and Brentford B.

Onen was on a target for Sheffield Wednesday and Wycombe before opting for Doncaster. He earlier played a Friendly game against Wakefield and it remains to be seen if he will be handed a contract.

He was called up to the Uganda squad for two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in March 2020, which were later postponed.

He participated in a training camp in Dubai in October 2020 with Uganda Cranes.
