Murushid Juuko will be staying at Wankulukuku, Express FC has officially confirmed on Thursday.
Juuko was out of contract but the Red Eagles have stated that the defender has signed a one-year contract.
Express FC reportedly started talks with the experienced defender this month to persuade him to stay.
“It is a great feeling to stay at this great club,” Juuko is quoted by Express FC.
“This was bound to happen because of the environment we have at the club, everyone from the chairman down to the groundsman work as a team.”
The defender had recieved other suitors from Egypt and South Africa.
The Red Eagles, on Wednesday, unveiled goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa and Winger Joseph Akandwanaho.
Juuko joined Express FC at the start of the 2020/21 season after ending his contract with Botola Pro side Wydad Casablanca.
He was an integral member of the title winning squad as Express FC powered to their first league title since 2012.
Coach Wasswa Bbosa named Juuko as Express FC’s best player of the recently concluded campaign.
The Red Eagles, are preparing to play in CECAFA Kagame Cup and CAF Champions League.
Juuko has had stints with Bunamwaya (now Vipers), defunct Victoria University FC and Tanzanian giants Simba SC.
His experience includes two Africa Cup of Nations finals apperances with Uganda Cranes – 2017 (Gabon) and 2019 (Egypt).
