Ahead of the tournament, Defender Murshid Juuko, who has been out of contract, extended his stay at the club on Thursday.

The Bbosa coached side have also acquired the services of goalkeeper Joel Mutakubwa and exciting winger Joseph Akandwanaho in the ongoing transfer window. The duo have been included in the travelling squad.

Bbosa says the acquisition of new faces and Juuko extending his stay has boosted the squad going into the tournament.

“The renewal of contracts for some of our senior players like Murshid Juuko, Martin Kizza plus the addition of Joel Mutakubwa and Joseph Akandwanaho is a big boost.”

In the travelling squad, midfielder Abel Etrude was been named the assistant captain of the team replacing goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga who left the club at the end of last season.

“One of our captains was sent on loan, one left that is Muwanga Mathias we thank him, he was going for professional. So now we have added Etrude whom we expect to be committed and encourage fellow players to push the club forward.”

Bbosa called upon the fans to keep supporting like they did last season.

“We promise our fans and call upon their support as they did in our title winning campaign.”

Express FC reached the finals of the competition in 1994 and 1995 but last appeared in 2013 reaching the quarterfinals under the stewardship of Bbosa.

And now back to the competition after eight years, Bbosa’s charges will be looking forward to putting up a good show while at the tournament.
