CECAFA U23: Tanzania Crowned Champions

Tanzania were on Friday crowned the 2021 CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup champions.

The Kim Poulsen side however were made to dig deep and needed shootouts to beat Burundi in a closely contested final at Bahir Dar Stadium.

It was heart break for Burundi’s Adolphe Hakizimana who missed the sixth penalty to hand Tanzania the trophy.

To reach this stage, Burundi eliminated Kenya in penalties while Tanzania had beaten South Sudan 1-0 at the semifinals.

The regional tournament attracted nine teams including DR Congo.
