Express FC will advance to the semifinals of the 2021 CECAFA Kagame Cup with a victory against Malawi’s Nyasa Big Bullets on Wednesday.

The Res Eagles edged South Sudanese side Atlabara in their opener thanks to a goal (penalty) from Eric Kambale.

The Bullets on the other hand, played out a one-all draw with Young Africans.

The Guest side needed a 30th minute penalty which Chiukepo Msowoya converted to secure a draw and deny Young Africans who had taken the lead through Miracle Gabeya’s own goal.

The Group winners and runners-up in both groups (A and B) will advance to the semifinals.

Both sides are using the tournament to prepare for the CAF Champions League preliminary round after winning their domestic league titles.

The Red Eagles coach Wasswa Bbosa may ring about three changes to the starting team in a bid to bring in some fresh legs.

Midfielder Abel Eturude is out suspended after he was sent off against Atlabara FC.

Who Is Nyasa Big Bullets?

Nyasa Big Bullets are a football club based in Blantyre, Malawi.

They were formed in 1967 by a group of players who split from Mighty Wanderers FC, the two are big rivals to date.

They currently play in the TNM Super League, the top tier of Malawian football.

Nyasa Big Bullets are the most successful club in Malawi having won the league a record 14 times. Silver Striker have 8 while Mighty Wanderers are on 6.

They played in the group stages of the CAF Champions League in 2004.

They are nicknamed the People’s team. That loose translation of their nickname is like that of Express FC’s ‘Mukwano gwa Bangi’.
