Bobosi, Ndahiro In 20-man Uganda Team Set For Trials In Spain

Ugandan players, who subscribe and hold allegiances to Team Fundi, are set for a training camp in Spain later this month where they are expected to showcase their untouchable talents.

The team, which will leave for Spain on August 15th, will play four exhibition matches against Spain’s Segunda B clubs Hercules CF, Atletico Benidorm CF, CF Olihuera, and Intercity CF.

The core of the team comprises of buzzing youngsters including Bobosi Byaruhanga, Abdu Karim Watambala, Derrick Ndahiro, Kenneth Ssemakula, Gavin Kizito, Simon Tamale among others.

It will not only be a huge platfrom but also an important one for the lads to exhibit their class as top football coaches, scouts and agents are set to catch the games.

All games will be played at the Estadio Municipal, Guillermo Amor Av Ciudad Deportiva and Benidorm Alicante Stadium.

This massively talented young Ugandan team is to be coached by Turkish tactician Omer Selli who along with his technical team selected these youngsters.

Selli who was speaking to the press on Wednesday at MTN stadium in Lugogo, confirmed that team Uganda will camp first at Africa Bible University before departure.

The team is under FestoWeb Sports Management and is directly sponsored by the President of the Republic of Uganda Yoweri Museveni.

Politicians Silas Agon (MP Kumi), Fredrick Angura (MP Tororo County South) and FUFA’s Bashir Mutyaba did say that the project is intended to empower youth, promote and market Ugandan football talent.

The disappointment however is that Express FC captain Enock Walusimbi, KCCA FC players including Peter Magambo and Musa Ramathan will miss the trip due to their club engagements at the ongoing CECAFA Kagame Cup.

“We are going to promote Ugandan football to Europe. I thank all stakeholders who are part of this project especially Ambura Herbet and Hon. Amburo Fredrick who is an Mp for Tororo. The two have supported us financially and we got support from government as well,” coach Selli stated.

“We will have a one week camp at African bible University in Lubowa. After that camp, we shall select 20.”

When asked how he came up with the selected group of players, the Turkish gaffer responded: “I was watching many of them and also with the help of those following the national team.”

He would add: “We want to promote Ugandan football. Uganda has a very big potential in football so we have so many quality players but just may be they don’t get such opportunities to showcase and expose. This is our aim to promote such young talent to Europe.”

“These players have a big potential to get clubs in Spain and that’s why we selected them.”
