Uganda National basketball team player Ishmail Wainright has joined 2019 NBA champions Toronto Raptors.
Ish, 26, took to Twitter on Thursday to express his delight after sealing a lucrative deal.
He drilled in a 11-point and 12-rebound double double as Uganda stunned Morocco on July 8 in Rabat to qualify for the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket Championship.
In the first window of the same qualifiers, the American born forward averaged 21.3 points as Uganda won two of three games in November.
In one of his best highlight then, he scored 36 points and added 13 rebounds to dominate Cape Verde.
Wainright, playing for SIG Strasbourg in France last season, averaged 11.6 rebounds and five rebounds in the 34 regular season games for the side.
He does not have Ugandan roots but was naturalised by FUBA (permitted by FIBA rules). He will be an integral figure as Uganda take on Senegal, Cameroon and South Sudan in Afrobasket in Kigali.
