SC Villa Elections: Politician Ssegona Among Three Eyeing Presidency

Busiro East County Legislator Hon Medard Lubega Ssegona is among three aspirants that have shown interest to become the SC Villa President as the club readies for Elections.

SC Villa Electoral Committee confirmed the three people that have shown interest in the club’s top office.

Besides Ssegona, the list also includes Denis Mbidde Ssebugwawo and Joseph Kizito.

Mbidde is a former Vice President at the club and a renown marketer.

Kizito has been part of the club’s interim committee working as the PR and Communications director.

“The Electoral committee will now embark on the exercise to verify and confirm that all those who have expressed interest to stand comply with the requirements before confirming them as candidates,” Robert Kiggundu, the Chairman, Villa Electoral Committee said.

Earlier reports had stated that Farouk Meyiwa had also picked forms, but his name has not been mentioned anywhere in the statement from the Electoral Committee.

The final declaration of candidature will be announced by the Electoral committee on August 14.

SC Villa, the record 16-time Uganda Premier League winners, will go to polls on August 27-28, 2021.

For presidential candidates, they must submit a proof of Education level of at least UACE (form six) of UNEB or its equivalent, proof of Identity like a National ID, Drivers Licence or Passport.

They must also provide proof of payment of non-refundable nomination fee (Sh2m for President).

Results of elections will be revealed on Sunday, August 2021 via the club official website.

Must Know About Medard Lubega Ssegona:

Ssegona was born on September 1, 1975.

He attended Mayungwe Primary School where he completed his PLE, He completed his UCE in 1994 at Entebbe parents. Two years later, he got his UACE at Caltec Academy.

He got a Bachelors of Laws at MakerereUniversity and a diploma in Legal Practice at LDC.

Sseggona is a senior lawyer a partner to Lukwago & Co. Advocates.

He is also a former minister of Information, Cabinet Affairs and Lukiiko and Spokesperson Buganda Kingdom, Mengo 2006-2010.

He Worked as the Shadow Minister of Justice and Constitution Affairs at Uganda’s parliament.

He changed allegiance from Democratic Party (DP) to National Unity Platform (NUP).
