Kisala, Ngabo To Takeover at Mbarara City

Uganda Premier League side Mbarara City are set to appoint Kefa Kisala and Pius Ngabo as their next head coach and assistant coach respectively.

This follows the resignation of Charles Livingstone Mbabazi from the role a month ago which prompted a search for a replacement to the vacant position by the Ankole Lions.

During this quest, different names had been identified and amongst these was the club’s former assistant coach Sadiq Ssempiji, only for negotiations to fall apart between the two parties.

Kisala, who has formely been with Express FC and Wakiso Giants in the last three years will be joining the Western gaints in the aftermath of his breakup with army side UPDF FC the previous month.

He guided the then newcomers (UPDF FC) to the seventh place, finishing with 37 points and just a single place below his current suitors.

If offered the position, Kisala and Ngabo will have a host of challenges to navigate during their first month at the helm given the non-reactive system at the club when it gets to player recruitment.

The uncertainity around the management position at Mbarara City seems to have posed serious ramifications to the club. This saw important players including club captain Hilary Mukundane linked with a move away from the club.

It is therefore important that this is addressed urgently by the club as they gear up for a new season . More aggression in the transfer market might also serve as some sort of restitution for the imperfections exhibited at the club early this year.
