Onduparaka Has Eyes On Onen As Next Coach

Uganda Premier League side Onduparaka FC are set to appoint Peter Onen as their next head coach following a series of negotiations between the two parties.

The role has been vacant following the departure of former their interim head coach Joseph Mutyaba at the conclusion of the 2020/21 season.

Mutyaba, who replaced Viali Bainomugisha in the role, experienced a number of mixed results during his short spell which never seemed to suggest that he would get the role on a permanent basis.

Onen on-the-other-hand seemed to have taken a sabbatical from football management after what came to be a nusty car accident that he sustained towards the end of 2019.

Joining the Caterpillars will be his first employment venture since his return to the beautiful game. The club is however headed for a rebuilding process following the mass exodus of key players to the squad with the most notable name being Kabon Living.

Onen does come with a lot of experience to the Arua based side as seen from his adventures with different clubs in the Ugandan topflight league.

He has previously worked with Layibi College, Gulu United,Bukedea Town Council, BUL FC and he notably guided the U-17 national team to a AFCON qualification after winning the maiden CECAFA U-17 Zonal Tournament.

The Caterpillars had a non characteristic outing in the league the previous season and ended up finishing 12th with 28 points. Onen will surely now be tasked to bring back the lost glory at the club.
