Uganda and Zanzibar representatives Express FC and KMKM respectively have been fined by the CECAFA Disciplinary Committee for their unsporting behavior during their semi-final encounter at the Azam Complex on Tuesday 10th August 2021.
Express FC beat KMKM 2-1 to stage up a finals showdown with Nyasa Big Bullets thanks to goals from Muzamiru Mutyaba and Eric Kambale.
As confirmed by CECAFA through a press release, both teams have been handed a USD.3000 fine for their undesirable behaviour to delay kick-off time by staying in their dressing rooms for warm ups despite advice from CECAFA Competitions Director Yusuf Mossi..
Express head coach Wasswa Bbosa on-the-other-hand has been strongly warned for his continuous insults towards match officials at the end of most first halfs in the game.
Express kits man Ayub Balyejusa has also been fined USD 500 for attacking the fourth official at the end of the first half, he was further suspended for one game.
The Committee further imposed four match suspensions to KMKM players Ishalka Said Mwinyi and Adam Ibrahim and a fine of USD.500 each after both players attacked the referees.
Suleiman Mohammed, who rushed onto the pitch to additionally fuel the ongoing chaos was also fined USD.500 and suspended for the next playoff match.
Both teams have until 24 hours to appeal the decision by CECAFA Disciplinary Committee, failure to do that, the decision will stand.
This committee meeting was held at the Tiffany Diamond hotel in Dar es salaam and shared by: Justus Mugisha (Chairman), Yusuf Mossi (Director of Competition), Auka Gecheo (Executive Director), Leslie Liyunda, Ali Ahmed (Referees Assessor), Amir Hassan (Match Commissioner), Albino Majok (Security Officer), Baraka Kizuguto (General Coordinator) and Sumaya Hood (Secretary).
