UPL Transfers: SC Villa confirm the signing of Bayo

Uganda Premier League side SC VIlla have announced the signing of Masaza Cup winning midfielder Ali Bayo on a two-year employment contract.

Nicknamed ‘Arshavin’, the twenty-four year creative midfielder has been a free agent since the conclusion of the tournament and a move to the record 16-time Uganda Premier League champions was more than welcomed.

He formed an integral part of the Gomba team that won the 2020 edition of the Masaza Cup tournament earlier this year.

It was because of these convincing and mouthwatering performances that he attracted the Joggos’ attention, who acted swiftly to tie him down on a contract.

The finesse oriented midfielder commenced his football journey at Nakaseke international College before switching to St. Mary’s Kitende. He would further feature for Lungujja Galaxy in the Kampala Regional League.

He becomes the third official signing for the club following other arrivals like midfielder Isma Mugulusi and defender Kenneth Ssemakula.

Villa have also let go of a pool of players that include: defender Derrick Ndahiro, Emmanuel Alex Wasswa among others with more expected to join the ever expanding list of departures.

The club will head for polls on August 28th as they seek to have an elected leader takeover the presidency. This hasn’t happened since 2018 when the then chairman Ben Misagga left the club.
