FUFA Confirms Basena As Uganda Cranes Assistant Coach

Federation of Uganda Football Association has confirmed Moses Basena as the assistant coach of the Uganda Cranes.

Basena replaces Livingston Mbabazi as the assistant to Milutin Micho Sredejovich.

Mbabazi was earlier given the role, a job Micho said that it should be for a coach who is not attached to any club.

However, Mbabazi is said to have agreed terms with new Uganda Premier League side Arua Hill.

“Uganda Cranes Head coach Milutin Sredojevic has named Moses Basena as replacement for Livingstone Mbabazi in the position of assistant coach of the National Senior team,” statement from FUFA reads.

“Mbabazi opted to remain at his club yet FUFA’s objective is to have a National team coach who is not attached to any club.

“The Head coach has a contractual mandate to name his backroom staff.”

Basena parted ways with Sunrise FC in Rwanda, is also a target for URA FC who will be taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Basena was Micho’s assistant coach at Uganda Cranes and was elevated to head coach in 2017 when the Serbian left.

He has previously coached Simba SC, URA FC, The Saints, KCCA FC, UPDF FC and SC Villa among others.
