The massive recruitment process at the record Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa intensifies with a reported interest in Proline FC forward Ivan Bogere.
Bogere, who finished the previous season on loan to topflight side Wakiso Giants provides confidence to any team as a proven player having featured in both the league and the FUFA Big League.
The Uganda Hippos striker showed a lot of class in his breakthrough 2018/19 FUFA Big League season with Proline, scoring 14 goals in what came to be an exciting adventure.
He also convincingly finished as the tournament top scorer at the CECAFA U20 (AFCON Qualifiers) in Arusha, Tanzania, scoring five goals in a well-put-together run.
In the event that the deal is completed, Bogere will join new arrivals like Isma Mugulusi, Kenneth Ssemakula, Ali Bayo and Charles Bbale who have since been unveiled at the club.
The Jogoos have also let go of a pool of players including: Derrick Ndahiro, skipper Asuman Alishe, Faizal Muwawu, Fahad Badiro, Geoffrey Wasswa and Emmanuel Wasswa in the ongoing transfer window.
Villa’s biggest challenge during the previous season was the lack of a reliable forward to swing the favour on their side. Their only source of goals was forward Ronald Olaki whose goals were a rare occurrence.
The Jogoos actually scored only 29 goals the entire campaign and finished 10th with 36 points. It is needless to mention that their season was characterized with inconsistency.
VIlla will head for polls on August 28th as they quest to reestablish the dominance and mastery that this great club was synonymous with in their great years of dominancy.
