*Gaddafi Vs Nyamityobora – 12pm
*Proline Vs Blacks Power – 3pm
Gaddafi face Nyamityobora in the first StarTimes FUFA Big League playoffs game at the Technical Centre in Njeru.
The winner of this tie will meet the winner between Proline and Blacks Power in the decisive match on Tuesday to determine the third team promoted to Uganda Premier League.
Tooro United and Arua Hill who will be playing their Big League final on Tuesday at 3pm, have already booked their place in the top flight for the 2021/22 season.
The playoffs were to be played in June but rescheduled after the country entered into another lockdown due to a second Covid19 wave.
A lot has happened since then and teams who have even lost some players, have been struggling to train due to finances and uncertainties.
“Our preparations were affected by the lockdown because all our training sessions were put to a halt,” said Gaddafi FC coach Hassan Zungu.
“But I am still convinced that for the few days we have been with the team, the players are in good shape and ready to play. We hope to win our first game and also attain the ultimate target of getting promoted.”
Gaddafi finished second with 24 points, behind Arua Hill who earned direct promotion, in Elgon group.
In build up to the playoffs, they have played two Friendlies – They drew 1-1 with UPDF FC and lost 1-0 to BUL FC at Njeru.
Unlike Gaddafi, Nyamityobora will be banking on previous experience having played in the top flight.
Nyamityobora coach Richard Makumbi has helped many teams earn Uganda Premier League promotion.
These include SCOUL (1995), Iganga Town Council (1996), Mukono Lions (1997), Buikwe Red Stars (2004), Fire Masters (2005), Bunamwaya (now Vipers) in 2006, Bidco (BUL) in 2011.
Makumbi will be hoping to use his magic wand despite poor preparations for his side.
He stated: “We have not had the best preparations but I have a lot of belief in my players. They are committed and hopefully, they will be in the perfect conditions against Gadaffi.”
Nyamityobora finished third in the Rwenzori group with 24 points.
