Gaddafi FC head coach Hassan Zungu has waxed lyrical about his side’s progression into the finals of the FUFA Big League Playoffs for the third-and-last promotional spot to the forthcoming UPL campaign.
This he said in the aftermath of his side’s mouthwatering 4-0 win against a lackluster Nyamityobora side on Sunday August 15th 2021 at the FUFA Technical centre in Njeru.
This was the first fixture of the FUFA Big League Playoffs on the evening and was played on an empty stadium in adherence to the Covid-19 SOPs as set by the Ministry of health (MoH).
Goals from Mark Bamukyaye, James Otim and a brace from Ronald Bithum were enough to book a meeting with Proline FC in the finals for the Jinja based side as they earned a well deserved victory.
Zungu was unable to hide his excitement for the milestone his team had reached while addressing the media:
“I would like to congratulate the players for the impressive performance, we had a tidy game all through and we barely did anything wrong. The result is just so satisfactory,” he whispered.
When asked about their potential to make it to the topflight, he had this to say: “I think if we play like the way we did this evening, we definitely shall make it in the super League.”
He would also use the platform to admit their need to take the chances created and those granted to them, rectify a few defensive mistakes and maintain the hunger in midfield if they harbour any dreams of playing in the topflight.
Nyamityobora on the other hand justified their backroom problems and financial constraints with an uncharacteristic performance when they invited the Busoga side to pounce on them.
The finals are slated for Tuesday August 17th, as they lock horns with Proline FC in what promises to be yet another exciting affair. The venue at the semi-finals will be maintained.
The eventual champions of the finals get to earn a direct promotion into the Uganda Premier League, joining Arua Hill and Tooro United who topped the Elgon and Rwenzori groups respectively.
