*Gaddafi FC 2-0 Proline
Gaddafi FC will play Uganda Premier League football for the first time next season after earning promotion with a 2-0 victory over Proline FC in the Big League playoff final at FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
Hassan Zungu’s side got off to a dream start, with Steven Munguchi on target in the second minute of the game before Frank Mulimi put the game to bed.
The first goal was a combination of URA FC duo who are on loan at the club – Fesali Najib’s well delivered corner was headed in home by Munguchi.
Proline played like it was not do or die game and lacked urgency to breach the solid Gaddafi FC defence.
Gaddafi created the better chances and almost doubled their advantage with James Otim failing to convert from a neat cross from Munguchi at the start of the second half while Joel Madondo fluffed a keeper-to-beat chance later on.
Substitute Mulimi confirmed Gaddafi ticket to UPL when he recived from Madondo, showed composure, rounded off goalkeeper Nicholas Ssebwato to score in an empty net.
The final whistle was greeted with wild celebrations from Gaddafi FC, a side that played in Regional league two seasons back!
Gaddafi who finished second with 24 points in Elgon group, beat Nyamityobora 3-0 in the playoffs semis on Sunday.
Gaddafi join Arua Hill and Tooro United who were earlier promoted automatically to UPL after end of the Big league regular season.
