Uganda’s sole representatives at the inaugural CAF Women Champions League tournament, Lady Doves have learnt their opponents for the soon to commence competition.
At a draw held in Kenya on a Friday morning, the reigning 2021 Fufa Women Super League champions were pitted in Group A alongside Tanzania’s Simba Queens, Burundi’s PVP FC and FAD FC from Djibouti.
The groups were earlier composed of three teams following Rwanda’s exit from the first-of-it’s-kind tournament thereby provoking a revision of the groups in order to partition four teams in each.
On the other hand, Group B is made of teams like Commercial Band of Ethiopia, Yei Joint Stars FC of South Sudan, VIHIGA Queens FC of Kenya and New Generation FC of Zanzibar.
These regional qualifiers will take place in Nairobi, Kenya from August 28th to September 9th. All the games will be hosted the Kasarani and Nyayo stadiums.
The top two teams from each group will earn an automatic qualification to the semi finals of these qualifiers.
At the conclusion of the competition, the eventual champions will warn an automatic progression to the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League to be held in Egypt, this year.
In the event that they get passed this stage, the Lady Doves will be the first Ugandan Women team to represent the country at the inaugural CAF Women Champions league.
