Afrobasket: Shooting Guard Adam Seiko Set For Silverbacks Debut

Guard Adam Seiko will be making his Uganda debut after arriving in the Silverbacks camp in Kigali on Friday night ahead of the 2021 FIBA Afrobasket.

Seiko, born February 27, 1998, turns out for San Diego Aztecs in the United States.

The son to Lt Col Juma Seiko, is the brother to Arthur Kaluma who was Uganda’s best performer as the team beat Morocco to qualify for the Afrobasket.

In the 2020/21 season at Aztecs, he featured in 27 games where he veraged 4.2 points and 2.0 rebounds in 19.9 minutes per games.

He had his high school at Sierra Canyon where he helped the team to a 27-3 record.

Canada-based Kieran Zziwa who plays for University of Manitoba Bisons and coach George Galanopoulos are the other two new arrivals.

Renown NBA Analyst Mike Schmitz is jetting in on Saturday to boost the coaching staff. He is still in Cairo for the FIBA Africa U16 Championship.

Robinson Opong and Eric Rwahire are already in camp while Ishmail Wainright, Arthur Kaluma and Deng Geu are also expected to jet in.

The 30th edition of the Afrobasket tips off in Kigali, Rwanda from August 24 to September 5.

Uganda who finished second in Group E of the Qualifiers with a 3-1 mark will be taking part for a third straight time.

*August 25: Senegal Vs Uganda, 6pm
*August 27: Uganda vs Cameroon, 12pm
*August 29: South Sudan vs Uganda, 6pm
