Gift Ali Motivated By The Healthy Competition In The Camp

KCCA FC midfielder Gift Ali Abubakari believes that the stiff competition in the camp is healthy and will help to massively improve the players since everyone’s sight is set on making the final squad.

This he highlighted while speaking to the media in a brief interview at the Kabira Country Club. Ali admitted that he anxiously waited for the opportunity to be summoned to the national team.

“Am grateful for the opportunity to be in camp with the team. Being here is something I’ve personally worked hard and looked forward to for as long as I can remember.” He honestly expounded.

It is imperative to recall that the versatile midfielder’s maiden call-up to the national team was during the 2019 edition of the CECAFA Regional Cup, a tournament that Uganda clinched.

According to Gift however, there is good competition for the midfield positions, something that should only provoke hardwork from his counterparts and himself and thinking about it a lot can only limit concentration.

“The competition is intense really but very healthy as well. It helps to improve us as players and I am personally looking forward to more opportunities in the Cranes national team.” He added.

Gift Ali, formerly with Proline FC is a big fan of young talent and therefore needed no invitation to advise and motivate the youngsters never to lose hope and prioritize hardwork.

He implored them to continue playing the game despite the hardships as one never actually knows when one’s luck knocks at the door. Football is indeed very democratic and the chance always comes.

That said Micho’s Uganda Cranes team are preparing for the World Cup Qualifier games against both Kenya and Mali in Group E but will first have to engage in a friendly match with Ethiopia.
