Ismail Watenga, Four Other Foreign Based Players To Join Cranes Camp

Goalkeeper Ismail Watenga is among the five foreign based players to join the Uganda Cranes ahead of the World Cup Qualifers.

Uganda Cranes head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic confirmed the development as the Cranes prepare for the World Cup Qualifiers against Kenya and Mali next month.

The team is already in Ethiopia ahead of an international friendly with the host.

The addition of the quintet will make it a total of 25 players for the assignment.

Watenga who turns out for Chippa United in South Africa has been fronted as the perfect replacement for Denis Onyango who retired from international football after an illustrious career.

TP Mazembe defender cum winger Joseph Ochaya joins the Midfielder trio of Moses Waisswa (SuperSport United), Taddeo Lwanga (Simba) and Aucho Khalid who recently signed for Tanzania’s Yanga SC.

The team is already camped at the Olive Hotel and Spa in Bahir Dar city.

Micho is quoted by FUFA media: “Those are the players who will join us in Ethiopia. We want to make use of the camp in Bahir Dar as we continue with the preparations.”
