The 2021/22 Uganda Premier League season debutants Gaddafi FC are closing in on a deal that will take UPDF FC striker Alex Kitata alias Benzema away from Bombo Military grounds stadium.
Kitata was instrumental to the Army side during their exciting but inconsistent 2020/21 season which saw them lockhorns and upset some of the big names in Ugandan club history.
He is a player that guarantees vast experience, something he has earned during his adventures with various topflight league sides including the record 16 time champions SC Villa.
The Soldier Boys on the other hand enjoyed a fascinating campaign under the stewardship of Hassan Zzungu that was full of incredible milestones climaxed with promotion to the topflight league.
They achieved this by defeating Proline FC (2-0) in the FUFA Big League Playoffs final thus going their counterparts Arua Hill and Tooro United. Kitata will be instrumental in their quest for supremacy.
Further reports indicate that the Jinja based side is in talks with former UPDF head coach Steven Bogere to take over the touchline from Zungu.
In the event that the deal materializes, it will be a big blow for UPDF who have already lost Brian Kayanja to KCCA and Robert Eseru to fellow debutants Arua Hill.
