Solomon Okwalinga Extends Stay At Mbarara City

Mbarara City attacking midfielder Solomon Okwalinga has signed a three-year contract extension that will keep him at the club till 2024.

This particular confirmation was made via the club’s website social media platforms on Monday August 30th.

“We are delighted to announce that Okwalinga has extended his stay at the club for more three years till 2024, reads a statement on the club’s social media accounts.”

The down-to-earth attacking midfielder rejoined the club for his second stint in 2019 on a two-year contract from West Nile side Onduparaka FC.

Okwalinga had first joined the club from Synergy FC in 2017 and massively impressed to win himself a move to Lugogo side KCCA FC who were under the stewardship of Mike Hillary Mutebi then.

He now becomes the latest and the third player to extend his stay at the Ankole Lions after striker Jude Ssemugabi and gnoalkeeper Martin Elungat.

The club has already named Kefa Kisala as they new head coach for next season, replacing Livingston Mbabazi who departed for league champions and reigning Big Arua Hill SC.

In the ongoing transfer window, the club’s business in terms of recruitment has been slow as they have only one addition.

The said player is Aaron Okoth who signed from Eastern Regional side Admin FC.

However, reports have it that the Ankole Lions are being linked to a pool of players away from Uganda premier league side UPDF and they include midfielders Arafat Kakonge, Simon Mbazira, forwards Ruben Kabuye and Davis Kasirye.

The fore mentioned players are said to be on the verge of joining the club as well reuniting with former coach Kefa Kisala.

In the process , they have lost Midfielder Ivan Eyam to Arua Hill and right back Innocent Wafula, who joined KCCA FC recently.
