The Federation of Uganda Football Association has revealed the new dates, format and venue for the semi-finals of the 2020/21 Stanbic Uganda Cup.
The tournament was initially slated for resumption between the dates of 19th and 31st August.
It was postponed in order to create room for the Uganda Cranes’ engagement in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
As of Monday August 30th, FUFA further extended the semi-finals dates to between 21st September 2021 for the first tie involving Police FC Vs Vipers SC.
The second tie involving the joint record holders Express FC against glory-hunters BUL FC will be played the following day on September 22rd 2021.
The winner from either tie will play in the final at the same venue on 26th September at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru. All three games will be hosted at the same venue.
FUFA have also resolved to have the semi-final games to be played as a one-leg affair and agreed to scrape the home-and-away format.
The competition was called off in January 2021 following the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic, whose serge subjected sport to a second lockdown.
Fufa Big league side Proline FC are still the defending champions having won the tourney in 2019 after getting the better of Solitiro Bright Stars on spotkicks in the finals played at the Masaka Recreation grounds.
