Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC have officially unveiled Uganda U20 goalkeeper Jack Komakech on a five-year employment contract.
The confirmation for the club’s first signing of the transfer window was made official on Thursday September 2 via all their website and social media platforms.
Komakech was quick to express his delight at joining the Kitende based side on his unveiling. This is what he had to say to the club’s media team:
“I’m just extremely happy and proud to join Vipers SC but most importantly, I finally have a team to feature for, in the Uganda Premier League.”
“Vipers SC is one of the biggest clubs in the country with huge ambitions and am therefore looking forward to fully participating in this fascinating journey.” He added.
He wasn’t however naive and admitted that this was going to be a tough job requiring a lot of hardwork, but also indicated his readiness to do everything possible in his abilities to make the most of his five years stay with the club and with the school as well.
Komakech, a product of Ascent Soccer Academy, joins the Venoms having been part of the Under 17 squad that featured for Uganda at the CAF U17 championship in Tanzania.
He also played for the Uganda U20 national team, the Hippos during the CECAFA U20 tournament last year.
He is expected to fill the void left by goalkeeper Bashir Sekagya who departed at the club last month.
The custodian’s arrival at Kitende means he will face competition for the number one spot from goalkeepers like: Fabien Mutombora and Derrick Kiggundu, who seem to be above him in the pecking order.
It is also imperative to remember that the Venoms unveiled the Brazilian tactician Roberto Oliveira as their new head coach for the forthcoming season.
