World Cup Qualifiers: Emmanuel Okwi Expresses Readiness

Uganda Cranes Captain Emmanuel Arnold Okwi says they need to collect maximum Points in their 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Mali.

This, he highlighted during a pre match press conference that was held at the Fufa house in Mengo on Sunday 5th/ September.

The Cranes are set to host Mali on Monday, at the St. Mary Stadium, Kitende in their second game of group E.

While speaking to the press men, Okwi started by expressing the team’s readiness ahead for Monday’s tie

“We are ready and everyone in the camp is good to go and ready to give in their best in tomorrow’s game,” started the team captain.

The Cranes started their world Cup Qualifying campaign with a goalless draw against Neighbors Kenya on Thursday last week.

And now as they gear up for the second game of the group, the Captain says they expect to build on the point against the Harambee Stars

“We already have something in the bag, so we shall be looking forward to building on that.”

He would add on: “All we want is to add on the three points against Mali so as to get a direction in these Qualifiers.”

In the first game against Kenya in Nairobi, Okwi was among the two players who were pulled off at half time after sustaining injuries. The other player is defender Halid Lwaliwa who was forced off with an injury.

And now, with the Mali game first approaching, Okwi and Lwaliwa will need to have late fitness tests so as to take part in the Mali encounter.

The game against Mali will prove a big test to the Micho coached side as they need to fight for maximum Points while at home.
