Hassan Matovu: Buoyant Goalkeeper Unveiled At Bright Stars

Former KCCA FC goalkeeper Hassan Matovu Muyomba has been quick to describe his move to Soltilo Bright Stars as one of the easiest decisions he has had to make in his career as he quests for more development.

This he highlighted at his official unveiling at the Japanese owned club on Tuesday 7th September, penning a three-year employment contract with the club.

The Lugogo Academy graduate expressed his ecstasy while addressing the club’s media team, where he admitted to a lot of things:

“Today I start a new journey in my professional career as an athlete. Signing for Soltilo Bright Stars is one of the easiest decisions I have had to make in my quest to develop and get better as a footballer,” Matovu stated.

He would use the same platform to thank his former coaches at KCCA, whose tremendous work in his journey can’t go unmentioned. These according to him are Mike Mutebi, Morley Byekwaso and goalkeeping coach Daniel Kiwanuka.

He reflects back to words of wisdom from his senior and mentor Charles Lukwago as he paid tribute to him and the entire playing staff at Lugogo with whom he has shared a changing room.

Matovu’s message to his new teammates at Bright Stars, the management and various stakeholders was a promise to deliver to the best of his abilities.

The expectations from him will be filling the void left behind by veteran custodian Godwin Buule who recently departed the club but will have to compete with Simon Tamale for the number one spot. A Tamale who had an impressive season previously and saw him ignited in the national team.

He becomes their sixth signing and gets to join other new arrivals like: Kyeyune Medi, Fiat Cleophas, Kazuto Kushida, Issa Bugembe and goalkeeper Shamuran Kamya who was recently promoted to the senior team.
